Sport Manitoba has changed the Regional Boundaries for the 2018 Power Smart Manitoba Winter Games. They have gone from 8 official regions to 6 official regions. This has therefore been an opportunity for Badminton Manitoba to reconsider the PSMWG’s place in our Long Term Athlete Development, as well as the structure of the competition itself. There are some important changes for the upcoming games!
A new Technical Package has been created and can be seen on our Technical Package page. The main changes to the competition include the age categories (U15/U17) and competition format (Individual & Team Competition). The changes made will create an atmosphere at the games almost identical to the Canada Winter Games. All of the individual medals to be won at the 2018 PSMWGs will be in doubles and mixed doubles, which aligns with Manitoba’s desire to improve our doubles tactics over the next 4-5 years, and once again, more accurately reflects the demands of the teams we send to Canada Winter Games.
